  • Wireless slowdown

  • my appologies if you've had this before but i cant find a solution. i bought a wrt54g router and the wga54g game adapter about 6 months ago and it worked great. all my music and movies streamed no problem. but about 6 weeks ago the connection grinds to a halt. i can't ftp any faster than 10 kb/s and after a few minutes it gets to 0 and then it gets disconnected. even with all firewalls off and the pc off, the xbox is very slow at streaming the shoutcast music files, it stops every few seconds and gets very jumpy. i've tried everything including reseting the devices and completely reinstalling my pc but nothing works? any advice would be much appreciated. thank you.

    thanx for the grerat site!!!

  • im sure ive covered this a few times..
    but anyway,

your wireless ap should have a site survey tool, use it to see if any one else around you has set up a wireless network. if they have then make sure your channel is at least 5 channels higher or lower then it.
try changing your channel anyway to see if that helps.

  • nothing happening, tries chanels 1, 6 and 13 . the setup for the wga54 game adapter is only reading 40 to 60% signal strength as well and i've no idea why. on some connections the ip adress will come up but my xbox wont find my pc shared folders through workgroup smb and some times it will, but its too slow to play anything.

ideas anyone? or is my hardware knackered?

  • there is no such thing as channel zero if its using standard 802.11 channels.
    doesnt sound too healthy

  • my wga54g game adapter configuration screen says its now channel zero, what does this mean? and how do i change it? or is it knackered?

    someone please help :sniffle: :sniffle:
