  • How soon after hitting 35k EQM does it take to get Elite card/kit?

  • Hey... I've never held status on AC before, but I will have 15k EQM flown between now (in which i currently have 0 on AC this year) and March, and then will shortly afterwards (late March or April) have to a trip to MEL which I will do on UA, which will put me on top of my 35,000 if I don't fly before then.

Would this get me my card in time for trips to Europe and TLV in May?

    Thanks for any help

  • It took about a month for my kit to arrive after I made Elite last September. However, you don't actually need the card/kit for lounge access and other status benefits - your *E status should show up online, and on your AC boarding passes, from the Sunday after your account crosses the 35k Q miles mark.

However, its not clear how quickly your new status will show up in the systems of other airlines (other than AC).

  • The status change will be reflected in your AE account as soon as the miles which take you over the top are posted. It usually takes a few weeks to get the kit.

However, if you book your Europe and TLV trips before you reach E, your new status won't appear on your BP. So if you're in that situation, you'll need to call the help desk and get them to update your profile before you travel, or you may not get some E benefits - priority luggage handling, upgrade eligibility etc.

Also, if you don't get your card befor you fly, just print out your profile, or recent statement from your AE account showing your new status, and take it with you to the airport.
