For those of you that have not yet checked out http://www.volumebuy.com/ take a look - they are offering $50 Marriott Gift Cheques at 15% off - and if 61 more are sold the discount will drop to 25% off. I committed to purchase 40 of them when the discount was only 10%, but I'll get the lowest price when the "pool" closes in 2 days - so I'm hoping we have some more action here! The small print is all set forth on the site - these are as good as cash and good for one year. At 15% off its a good deal - at 25% off its spectacular - so jump in and help get the price down to 25% off! For more info on Volumebuy, see the threads: http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/Forum1/HTML/002115.html and http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/Forum1/HTML/002489.htmlsnackyx - yes - if you go to Volumebuy's home page, and click on the Marriott certificate it sets forth all the terms. Essentially they just become your form of payment - instead of cash or credit card. So you book your room in the usual fashion, and receive your points as usual. Can these be used for stays at Marriott AND still qualify for Marriott Rewards points?Tip greatly appreciated. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif This will be my inauguration with Volumebuy. I bought 4, to use at the FAQ in Montreal in July. Each $37.50 cheque ($50 face value) should be worth about Cdn$75-80, so the four should just about cover my 2 days at the Marriott Chateau whatever-its-called! http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gifMy wife's 4 came today. My 8 are supposed to come tomorrow (I called and asked).
BruceI purchased the remaining 30 - they are now 25% off.
[This message has been edited by ranger1 (edited 03-28-2000).]Great Ranger1 - the only issue is how you got by their 8 certificate limit on the 4th price level. If you just did multiple orders you're at risk for them cancelling the extra orders - of course if you used multiple addresses, a spouse's name, etc., there shouldn't be a problem.Mee Too! http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gifJust got an e-mail this morning from V'Buy that my Guest Cheques were mailed yesterday.Got mine in the mail today...Thanks for the tip, Beantown Flyer. I was only allowed 4 this PM but also bought 4
more using my wife's name and her credit card number. Your post was much appreciated.I tried to get around the restriction with different credit card #'s. This may or may not have worked. I have not heard yet and they would not tell me how they distinguish different customers (smart move on their part). I did query volumebuy about the number of cheques purchased during this pool and they said there were more than enough to cover the $37.50 price.#If you have any other info about this subject , Please add it free.# |
