Audio books have many different benefits. Everyone knows the obvious ones - they allow you to enjoy your favorite novels while you run on your treadmill or drive in your car. They provide you with a relaxing escape from everyday life.

I recently encountered another great but not so obvious benefit of audio books - finding love.
It all started with planning a business trip. Not too long ago, the company I work for was looking to expand into Europe, and the CEO invited me and a few other employees to check out a possible location for our European headquarters in Warsaw, Poland.

In between meetings, we would all have a week of free time to ourselves. I had always heard about how beautiful
Polish women are, and since I was fresh out of a messy divorce, I figured this would be a great opportunity to try to find
the woman of my dreams.

Only one problem - I spoke not a word of Polish.
So I jumped online, and two days later, Polish for Beginners, a two-cassette audio book, arrived in the mail.

In a matter of hours, I learned the basics - czesc (hello), dowidzenia (goodbye), and the not-so-basics, but just as vital to my goal of finding love - Czy moge cie kupic piwo? (Can I buy you a drink?), and Daj mi buzi(Give me a kiss).

Armed with my good looks, irresistable charm, and now my basic knowledge of the language, what Polish woman could
resist?

Sure enough, on my third night in Warsaw, I met a lovely lady named Basia at a coffee shop. Jak sie masz, I said
to her (How are you?). Thankfully, she knew a little bit of English, so we were able to sit down with our drinks and
communicate with each other through both languages. It turns out she was also divorced, and was planning on visiting her
sister in Florida.

So after getting to know each other through the rest of the week, Basia decided shed come back to the States with
me so that she could see her sister. And sure enough, after that, Basia came up to New York to visit me, and has been with
me since!
